Calling all San Francisco neighborhood groups!
We are excited to partner with neighborhood groups, neighborhood associations, community benefit districts, and other place-based groups in San Francisco for San Francisco’s inaugural Good Neighbor Week, Sep 27- Oct 5, 2025. This is our first year bringing this national holiday to San Francisco, and we are excited to get the word out. President Jimmy Carter started the holiday in the 70s; the spirit of the holiday is to elevate everyday acts of care, community, and connection in our neighborhoods.
We are interested in partnering with neighborhood groups who embrace the spirit of supporting our neighbors. Our intention is be low lift for any San Francisco neighborhood group to become a founding partner for 2025. We'll keep it simple for 2025 and dream bigger for 2026 and beyond!
To be a Founding Partner of SF Good Neighbor Week, neighborhood groups commit to:
Promote the Good Neighbor Award nomination form to your members before Sep 1, 2025.
We will provide a sample email template you can edit and use, a social media template, as well as flyers you can print out and post in the neighborhood.
Recognize the the Good Neighbor Award nominees from your neighborhood
After nominations close (~ Sep 12, 2025), we will share the list of nominees from each neighborhood with the respective neighborhood group
We will provide PDF commendations you can send to your neighborhoods’s nominees.
Note that we will not be picking “winners” centrally, so it’s up to each neighborhood group if they want to call every nominee a “winner” or select some winners at random, etc. We are coordinating with the Board of Supervisors to give one commendation from each supervisorial district (chosen at random) when the SF Good Neighbor Week Board Resolution is voted on at the end of September).
Some neighborhood groups are planning in-person events this fall where they can celebrate the nominees/ winners.
Gifts from local merchants are encouraged as recognition for the Good Neighbor Award nominees and winners.
(Optional) Host or co-host an event during SF Good Neighbor Week, Sep 27- Oct 5, 2025 (this could be an event you already have planned),
(Optional) Demo a project at the Good Neighbor Hackathon on Wed Oct 1,
(Optional) Contribute to our resource guide for (aspiring) block leaders
AND
Promote SF Good Neighbor Week in your neighborhood
